Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When does drama meet?
A: Mostly: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3-5. Not everyone is called to every rehearsal. When we did Mary Poppins, the actor playing Mary Poppins was called to every rehearsal but one.  Most people end up at rehearsal once a week or so. The exceptions are tech week and production week.

Q: What are tech week and production week?
A: Tech week is the week before the show. We rehearse every day that week until 6 PM, and everyone is called to rehearsal. Production week is the week OF the show! We rehearse every day until 7:30, and parents fee us dinner (thanks parents!) Everyone is called to rehearsal.

Q: Why doesn't everyone get in to the show?
A: Everyone who auditions gets into the musical. EVERYONE. That is because musicals have SONGS AND DANCES, which can be done by lots of people. Not everyone gets into the fall play and spring play. These plays are written for a limited number of characters, and so we only cast as many actors as there are parts.

Q: Why isn't there a drama club outside of shows?
A: There is neither time nor space nor staff after school to do  additional drama- we put all our resources into our productions. There is drama class during the day, however, for 6th graders.

Q: Why didn't I get into the play?
A: Read our casting policy and also this page on dealing with disappointment.
