STEP 2) Prepare a design and be ready to talk about it
STEP 3) Print and have parent/guardian sign permission slip
COME TO AUDITIONS on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 13
Tech Crew for the plays at Bigelow often help with the following jobs:
-- Organizing, Creating and Painting Sets for the Play
-- Managing Props for the shows
-- Running Lights and Sound for the Productions
-- Changing scenery during the show
-- Designing, Sewing, Building, and Organizing Costumes
-- Special Effects
-- Designing, ordering, and managing show posters, tickets, t-shirts, and programs
-- Assisting with Rehearsals
Tech Crew can be a fun job, but also requires a lot of responsibility- just like being an actor. In addition, being a member of tech crew requires the ability to work independently, be organized, and pay close attention to detail. Members of Tech Crew will come to fewer rehearsals early on, then start coming to all rehearsals during the last two weeks.
For more specific job descriptions of tech crew roles, click here.
During auditions for the plays and musical, there will be a sign up form for Tech Crew on the show's page, and an interview where students will present a design in a small group. There are a limited number of spots on tech crew and no student can ever be guaranteed a place. There simply are not enough jobs (or room backstage.) If you want to be guaranteed a spot in a show, the only guarantee, for anyone, is if you audition for the musical.
Students who have done tech crew before and shown responsibility, reliability and independence may be considered for the role of Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Props Coordinator, Costume Designer, Student Producer or Stage Manager. These are big jobs, and there are no guarantees for any student.
