Auditions and Casting
Casting for all of the Bigelow shows is done by audition. The fall and spring play cast size varies depending on the show, but each show generally has between 15 and 25 actors. Every show at Bigelow includes students from all three grades in the cast.
EVERYONE who successfully completes all of the audition requirements for the musical will get a part in the show. We try to giving speaking parts and featured singing roles to as many people as possible.
In general, 6th graders are typically cast in ensemble roles where they can learn about being in a production; 7th graders are typically cast in supporting or ensemble roles to continue building performance skills; the main roles are typically reserved for 8th graders who have a history of commitment to drama (including auditioning for plays at Bigelow, attending drama events and conducting themselves in a respectful and responsible manner in all drama productions). THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE FOR ANY 8TH GRADER.
