EVERYONE who successfully completes all of the audition requirements (the steps above in red) for the musical will get an acting part in the show. We try to giving speaking parts and featured singing roles to as many people as possible. For tech crew, we have only 25 spots available, so we may have to cut people depending on how many audition for tech crew.
Everyone does a singing audition from the song options above. Deaf/HOH students may sign the lyrics to the song in place of a singing audition. Everyone does a dancing audition. Dates listed above.
7th and 8th graders who are interested in being considered for a larger role should attend optional callbacks. This is an OPTIONAL audition, not open to 6th graders, that shows the directors that you are serious about drama and gives them a chance to see something else you can do. Check out the monologue page for options and rehearsing tips.
In general, 6th graders are typically cast in ensemble roles where they can learn about being in a production; 7th graders are typically cast in supporting or ensemble roles to continue building performance skills; the main roles are typically reserved for 8th graders who have a history of commitment to drama (including auditioning for plays at Bigelow, attending drama events and conducting themselves in a respectful and responsible manner in all drama productions). THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE FOR ANY 8TH GRADER.
